Adaptable Reuse − Campus for COET
This project is a good example of Adaptable Reuse.
The building was initially a Medical College which has been metamorphosed into an Engineering College. The demands of a Technical Institution was analyzed and the structure was stratified horizontally & vertically for circulation. The building was provided with a skin for energy efficiency and existing elements of the structure were reused.
Tourism Project − Visitor's Management Centre at Lonar.
Lonar is world famous for its crater created out of impact by a meteorite.
The architect explored the site. The crater has about 14 nos of temples in the vicinity having an unique characteristic feature for its roof. The roof structure in stone is derived from a square inscribed in a square rising and dividing the roof into triangles. The Architect was derived the roof of the main structure form this form in a simplistic expression with RCC as the material of construction.
The Campus depicts the interplay of introvert and extrovert spaces.
Homes for Aged
The site in a natural environment surrounded by small hillocks adjacent to a stream.
The concept is derived from the traditional idea from four Ashrams from Hindu Vedas - Vanprasthashram. The old banyan tree symbolizes the significance of Senior citizens in family. The Project encompasses the concept of coexistence with accommodation and community living facilities. The campus shows cluster planning where built and un built spaces have in intellectual exchange. The structures are deeply rooted in earth with subtle traditional roof forms camouflaged in the surrounding.
